Menus
Our extensive menu selection benefits from years of experience and we are sure that you will find a menu to suit your requirements. Of course, should you have any ideas of your own we will be happy to consider them. We are pleased to arrange alternative dishes for vegetarians or others with special dietary needs.
Reception drinks and wine
An extensive wine list is available and we would be pleased to give advice when selecting wines and reception drinks to accompany your meal.
Floral Decorations
Our florist will be pleased to advise you on appropriate decorations for your tables or, alternatively, you may wish to engage your own florist.
Room hire charges
Room hire charges vary according to the size of the event and the room chosen for your reception. These charges are waived should the cost of catering equal or exceed the appropriate room hire charge.
2008
The minimum cost for hiring the Dining Room for a reception on a Saturday during the main season (May - Oct) is £3,500, the Drawing Room £2,500 and the Lounge £400. At other times, these charges are reduced by 20%.
2009
The minimum cost for hiring the Dining Room for a reception on a Saturday during the main season (May - Oct) is £4000, the Drawing Room £3000 and the Lounge £500. At other times, these charges are reduced by 20%.
The minimum charge will be notified once your requirements are known.
Entertainment
We are happy to assist you in obtaining entertainers to perform during or after your reception. Due to the nature of our business, there are certain restrictions regarding entertainment and we would be happy to discuss this with you. During the months of May to August, music should finish by 11pm unless exclusive use can be considered.
Exclusive use
The hotel comprises 19 bedrooms and you may consider taking over the entire hotel, which allows greater flexibility with entertainment and the advantage of accommodating 37 of your guests.
Terms and conditions of exclusive use
The hotel is reserved from 1.00pm on the day of the Wedding until 11.00am on the following day.
During this time the hotel will be used by guests of the Wedding only, due to our position on the High Street the public may enter the hotel to make enquiries but they will be declined service during this time.
The price guide for exclusive use falls into three seasons:
2008
January – April inclusive £4240
May – August inclusive £5915
September – December inclusive £5365
2009
January - April inclusive £4450
May - August inclusive £6210
September - December inclusive £5650
These amounts are charged as a supplement to the cost of the Wedding Breakfast and ancillary services, and are applicable to Fridays and Saturdays throughout the year.
The cost of the Wedding Breakfast and Wines should cover the total minimum charge of the Dining Room, Drawing Room and Lounge.
Overnight accommodation with full English breakfast for one night is included, with an additional 10 rooms on the previous night.
Even though the exclusive use period starts at 1.00pm bedrooms cannot be guaranteed for occupancy until 2.00pm. Check out will be at 11.00am the following day.
Ancillary services
Place cards, menus and a table plan can be produced for you at a charge of £3.00 per guest.
For Weddings, Civil Partnerships and Birthdays a cake stand and knife can be provided at no extra cost. We will be pleased to introduce speeches if required, but should you require a qualified toast master we can help to arrange this for you.
Confirmation of details
After an initial enquiry, a provisional reservation may be held for an agreed length of time. Once a decision has been made, written confirmation will be required with a deposit to secure the reservation. Arrangements for the reception will be confirmed to you in writing once they are agreed. We would suggest that this should be no later than eight weeks prior to the reception. A final number of guests, on which the account will be based can be accepted up to 48 hours before the event.
Payment details
- On confirmation of a function, an initial deposit of 20% of the estimated total cost of the reception
- Four months prior to a function a further 40%
- One month prior to a function a further 40%
- The balance of the account with any adjustments will be forwarded after the function and should be settled within twenty-one days.
- Once paid, a deposit cannot be refunded unless the hotel is able to re-let the reserved facilities.
Insurance
We would recommend that you consider insuring your reception against unforeseen circumstances. Many insurance companies deal with such requests.
